8 Life Changing Tips
Eating clean stands for so much more than just washing your veggies in the sink before cooking them. Eating clean means to avoid all toxins in your food. Organic foods are made without pesticides, herbicides, and antibiotics. When we consume toxins we put ourselves at risk for all sorts of diseases including cancer. Our bodies hang on to these toxins and we can literally become “toxic”. Toxic symptoms include: lack of sleep, weight gain, skin conditions like acne, digestive issues, lack of energy, and so much more. Foods that are not free from toxins are also lower in nutritional value. Think about when you cook or even when you go out to eat – would you want bug spray to be used right next to preparing the food? Absolutely not. So, imagine farms where your food is being sprayed with chemicals – washing it off just doesn’t do the trick once it is absorbed into the thin layers of fruits and vegetables. My tip is to buy organic when you can, as often as you can. Shopping local at local farmer’s markets is also a great way to get to know your farmer and speak to them about what they use and don’t use. You’d be surprised how many local organic farmers are out there waiting on certification from the USDA. Enjoy the prices and support sustainable farming.
