Most know that exercise is one health principle that is essential to your success in life. I have had so many clients who knew this truth yet still exercise was not a part of their life.
Why is this?
One main reason I found is that most “want” to exercise but don’t really believe they “need” to. It’s when we take a “want” and turn it into a “need” that we will make something a priority and make it happen. The second reason is that most believe they don’t have enough time to exercise.
If you really want to make exercise a part of your life start by taking some time and making a list of all the consequences of not exercising will have in your life and also create a list of all the benefits of having exercise a part of your life. This will help you to take exercise from a “want” to a “need” and give you clear motivation to make it happen.
Now lets integrate!!!
1.-Try to exercise first thing in the morning. It even benefits the non-morning people! It’s only 15-30 minute that will provide a good energy for hours and if done on a regular basis it will have great impact on your overall health for years and years.
2.-This is an easy one to do! Just choose the furthest away parking spot and get in a few extra steps between your car and the shopping center. Easy practical thing you can do!
3.-Take a “walk break” whenever you can find the time during the day. It could even be on your break at work. Taking short 10-minute walks a few times a day will do wonders for your metabolism!
4.-Play with your kids! What, you don’t have kids? Play with someone else’s kids! Ha! This is great quality time for the kids and great activity for everyone.
5.-Simply choose the stairs over the elevator.
6.-Might not be too many more steps but choose a restroom that is the furthest away if you have an option.
Try to choose an active activity right after work. A walk, ride a bike, dance class, boxing class, yoga, or even gardening or housework is better than just sitting on the couch.
Walk, jog, do squats or stretch when you are waiting for dinner to cook, the laundry to finish up, or for your child to be finished with an activity. If you are intentional you will find a few minutes here and there to add one exercise in.
If you can’t seem to block out a chunk of time it is perfectly acceptable to break up your intense workouts. You want to have at least 30 minutes of cardio every day — but if you split that 30 minutes into three, ten-minute sessions you will find this more manageable. Find what works for you so you keep doing it!
Turn your daily chores & housework into exercise. When vacuuming try to use your arm, back and abdominal muscles to push the vacuum. When loading the dishwasher, maintain good posture as you are bending and straightening and keep your abs tight. Scrubbing floors, cleaning the bathtub, gardening, and mowing the lawn are great ways to burn some extra calories.
Strengthen your biceps! Carry the groceries to the car (or all the way home, if you’re walking distance from the store). Makes sure to get groceries double bagged.
